New York's funniest consumer advocate, Mark Malkoff (you may remember him for bringing a goat inside an apple store, outpacing a city bus on a tricycle, and visiting all 171 Manhattan Starbucks in 24 hours) is worried that, because of the recession, many New Yorkers can no longer afford to take a taxi

To do his part promoting this crucial part of New York City commerce (a point of contention in Albany right now), Malkoff told everyone he knew on the internets that he was offering free yellow cab rides for a day. He secured a car, a driver and started picking people up.

The catch, of course, is that Malkoff rides along and may make you wear a costume, break up with your boyfriend or sit in a pile of popcorn.

He's also anxious to see just how high he can get the meter. Take that recession!
