An apparent meteor in Wisconsin and Iowa lit up the sky around 10:10 p.m. Central Time last night.

The 'fireball in the sky' was seen by hundreds, causing a flood of social networking activity. Said one Facebook user, Renee DeVries, "It looked like a red flare and then it changed to a yellowish color and looked as if it was falling from the sky."

The AP reports that the meteor led to "rattling houses and causing trees and the ground to shake."
