One person was killed and at least eight wounded in shootings Saturday night and Sunday.
A 26-year-old man was fatally shot in his chest and side in Austin about 1:35 a.m. Sunday, said Officer Jose Estrada, a police spokesman.
Police responding to a call of shots fired found the man — whose name is being held pending family notification — in the 5600 block of West Bloomingdale Avenue.
He was rushed in critical condition to Loyola University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 2:07 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.
