Seth MacFarlane was a guest Friday on the eighth season premiere of "Real Time With Bill Maher." MacFarlane, along with Norah O'Donnell and Eliot Spitzer, discussed Don't Ask Don't Tell, CPAC, Tea Parties and, of course, the "Family Guy"/Palin controversy.

On Sunday, Fox ran a "Family Guy" episode that included a character with Down Syndrome played by Andrea Fay Friedman, an actress with Down Syndrome. The character said that her mother was the former governor of Alaska. Palin was not amused (her son Trig has Down Syndrome ) and appeared on "The O'Reilly Factor" to denounce MacFarlane.

MacFarlane stressed Friedman does not need the mock pity that Palin tried to generate. He pointed out that Friedman is perfectly content with her life and spoke out in a New York Times interview that said as much.

Palin recently repeated her call for Rahm Emanuel to step down as President Obama's Chief of Staff for saying "retards" during a private meeting, but gave Rush Limbaugh a "pass" for his using the same word. Palin said it was because Limbaugh was a satirist. On Friday, Maher pointed out that it was MacFarlane who was the real satirist.
