Britain's former Prime Minister, Tony Blair, will donate all sales from his autobiography to a British veterans charity. The book, A Journey, is a first person account of Blair's experiences holding power at the head of the Labour government for ten years.

Blair, who has received criticism for his role in the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars, hopes that his donation will help make a real and lasting difference in the lives of those injured.

A spokesperson for Tony Blair said on Monday:

"In making this decision, Tony Blair recognizes the courage and sacrifice the Armed Forces demonstrate day in, day out. As Prime Minister he witnessed that for himself in Iraq, Afghanistan, Northern Ireland, Sierra Leone and Kosovo. This is his way of honoring that courage and sacrifice.

All proceeds will go to the Royal British Legion, specifically the Battle Back Challenge Centre, which will provide rehabilitation services for injured personnel when it opens in the summer of 2012.

The Center says Blair's contribution will play a major role in reaching the facilities fund raising goal of £12 million ($19 million).
