Ugly Animals Deserve Love, Too, Says Ugly Animal Preservation Society (VIDEO)

WATCH: 4 Ugly Animals That Need Love

Not every human can be as beautiful as Brad and Angelina, and not every animal can be cuddly as a panda.

A lack of cuteness can be a real problem in the animal kingdom, at least when it comes to getting humans to care about you.

Take the blobfish, a deep sea critter that inhabits the waters off the coasts of mainland Australia and Tasmania. The blobfish is rarely seen by humans and maybe that's a good thing, since it looks like A slimy Jabba the Hutt.

Due to extensive trawling, the blobfish is in danger of disappearing, but its bizarre appearance prevents it from getting the same amount of attention as cuddly endangered species, such as the polar bear.

As seen in the video above, the blobfish is far from the only animal to suffer from a lack of good looks. It has plenty of unsightly company in creatures such as the endangered proboscis monkey, a Borneo native recognizable by its huge schnoz, and the naked mole rat, a hideous animal from East Africa with no hair, buck teeth and a bad habit of eating its own poop.

As bizarre-looking as these animals may be, they deserve as just much protection as cuter animals, says British evolutionary biologist Simon Watt, . Watt is the creator of "The Ugly Animals Preservation Society," a UK-based organization that holds stand-up comedy events around the United Kingdom where comedians champion the ugly animal of their choice, and the audience votes for the top ugly animal at the end.

Take a look at the video and see if you agree that these are the ugliest animals around. If you can think of any uglier ones, be sure to let us know in the comments.
