In the second installment of their Project Yosemite time-lapse series, photographers Colin Delehanty and Sheldon Neill give viewers a glimpse of the valley’s beauty both throughout the seasons and throughout the day, as sunrises, sunsets and clouds color wash the national park’s most famous landscapes. It puts every man-made light show to utter shame:
Capturing the footage was no quick or simple feat. The duo spent 45 days over the course of ten months filming for Yosemite HD II, testing their own abilities to face the elements.
“It takes a lot of work to get to most of the locations we shoot,” they shared on the project’s website. “In total, we’ve hiked more than 200 miles to capture our footage with packs that weigh an average of 70 lbs. The camera equipment makes up the majority of that weight.”
Places like Yosemite have been around long before us, but it's up to us to fight for their future -- and projects like Delehanty's and Neill's remind us of everything at stake. All contributions the video receives through its Vimeo tip jar will be donated to the Yosemite Conservancy.
