Amy Mullin Arrested: Drunk Driving Minnesota Mom Caused Accident With 5 Children In The Car, Police Say

Drunk Mom Caused Crash While Driving 5 Kids, Police Say

A Minnesota mom faces four felony charges after she allegedly caused a collision while driving drunk with her five children in the car.

Police in Burnsville say that Amy Mullin, 30, had "watery, glassy, and bloodshot eyes" when they found her just after 10:30 a.m. last Thursday, according to CBS News.

Authorities say that Mullin had her five children in the car -- ages 2, 4, 5, 7 and 9 months -- when she crashed into oncoming traffic while making a right turn, KSTP reports.

At first, Mullin lied to police about how many children were in the car because two of the children were reportedly buckled together in the front seat, according to KMSP.

An initial reading showed Mullin at .175 blood-alcohol content, more than twice the legal limit, KARE reports.

Mullin told CBS Minnesota that she hopes people will learn from her mistake.

“Even if they want to have whatever judgment, as long as they learn something, that’s what’s important,” Mullin said.

Mullin is charged with two counts of driving while impaired, criminal vehicular operation and endangerment of a child.
