Mentors are crucial to navigating some of life's biggest challenges -- even if that challenge is sticking a mousetrap on your tongue.

Conquering that pain was a recent quest of Asia Ray, a sideshow entertainer for the Venice Beach Freakshow, and one of the stars of the AMC series "Freakshow."

In order to master this stunt, the 21-year-old sword swallower turned to her good friend Morgue.

The first step, he says, is making sure the trap is positioned diagonally to the tongue.

"If it were level, there's more of a chance of it hitting your teeth," he says on the show's season premiere, which debuts May 6.

Asia takes his direction, but worries that her makeup is messing up the mousetrap.

"Uh oh! They need to make special mousetraps for me," she says.

When she lingually unleashes the trap, she makes an important discovery.

"Ow! That really hurts," she says.

Morgue agrees.

"Yeah, it can hurt," he says. "That's what a mouse feels when it dies."

This isn't the first time that Morgue has stuck his neck out to help Asia.

Last season, he showed her how to swallow a sword using a coat hanger.
