'Bikini Barista' Suffers Severe Burns After Coffee Stand Explodes

"The coffee stand was in flames... and then it made a big boom."

A young woman suffered severe burns after the drive-thru "bikini barista" stand where she was working exploded on Thursday.

The Sinners and Saints Coffee Co. stand in Everett, Washington, suddenly burst into flames just before 5 p.m., KOMO News reported.

Courtney Campbell managed to flee the blazing kiosk, but was badly burned in the inferno.

Campbell was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for treatment. At the time of this writing, her current condition is not known.

Photographs taken at the scene show the flames soaring high into the air.

"They were all the way up past the power lines there. They were pretty high," eyewitness Aaron Wiley told KOMO News.

A witness named Barbara said she saw "huge flames" coming from the stand as she drove eastbound on Everett Mall Way.

"The coffee stand was in flames, engulfed in flames, and then it made a big boom," she told KOMO News.

The Associated Press reported that crews from Everett Fire Department arrived on the scene to find the blaze had spread to a nearby car.

The fire was quickly extinguished and its cause is now under investigation. It's possible that propane tanks heating the stand exploded, said assistant Everett fire marshal Erik Hicks.
