Mayor-elect Bill de Blasio has unveiled a new campaign to help pass his plan to fund universal pre-K education for New York City children.

The campaign, coined UPKNYC, launched on Thursday and features Cynthia Nixon, Olivia Wilde, Rev. Al Sharpton, and John Legend among its supporters.

In a new video coinciding with Thursday's announcement, de Blasio's wife Chirlane McCray says, "These are our children. Let's invest in their future, and ours."

The initiative aims to tax the city's high-income residents who earn more than $500,000 annually to help pay for an extra 48,000 4-year-olds' enrollment in pre-K.

The plan was among the most important platforms de Blasio ran on during his mayoral campaign.
