Whether you like it or not, they've arrived. The ominous buzzing greets your groggy-just-leaving-for-work face in the morning and, just when you've forgotten about it, strikes up a "welcome home" concert at the end of the day. After 13 years underground, the cicadas have carved their way into our everyday lives.

For now, at least. In case you didn't know, the insects have a pretty demanding deadline to reach their biological purpose above surface. Each cicada has about 5 to 6 weeks to find their mate before their lives are over.

Now, doesn't that make you feel a little bad for the noisy nuisances? Enter Mauricio Baiocchi and his film Cicada Princess. Crafted around that very deadline, Baiocchi's film weaves a love story around the noisy creatures who seem so unlovable.
