Artist Isaiah Stephens has been drawing since he was four-years-old, so it's no surprise that the Disney movies have rubbed off on his artwork. Almost 20 years later, The New England Institute of Art grad has rocked the online world with drawings of the Disney princesses. But they aren't just regular drawings and Isaiah's princesses aren't wearing the usual gowns and gloves. Instead, he puts them in ensembles of a different group of women that he looks up to -- iconic heroines.
He explained his concept in an email:
Female heroes tend to be far more interesting than their typical million dollar smile, eight packed, steroid freak counterparts. I feel that a lot of the time, they don't get the respect that they deserve. And for me, drawing these was just a fun way to pay respect to some of the heroines that I've been a fan of over the years.
What started out as a simple question: "What heroine would each Disney princesses be for Halloween?" turned into 12 beautifully designed portraits of Disney princesses wearing kick-butt costumes.
