Hooters Burglars Steal Jukebox, Thinking It's ATM, Cops Say (VIDEO)

WATCH: Burglars Steal Hooters Jukebox, Thinking It's ATM: Cops

Police in San Diego are currently on the hunt for two burglars who broke into a Hooters restaurant and stole a jukebox that they may have confused for an ATM.

The bizarre burglary happened early Tuesday morning when the two men in either a white or silver-colored pickup truck, broke the glass door and attempted to back the vehicle into the restaurant, according to NBCSanDiego.com.

When the thieves discovered the door opening wasn't big enough for the truck, they wrapped the 5-foot jukebox in a tow strap, lifted it into the bed of the pickup and drove away, according to RanchoBernardo-4SRanch Patch.

The suspects, who are believed to be two males in the their late teens or 20s, may have gotten away with the jukebox, but that may not have been what they were trying to steal. Police suspect they confused the jukebox for an ATM machine, San Diego police Lt. Andra Brown told KGTV-TV.

Investigators haven't said if they believe the suspects cased the joint earlier in the evening, but that's the theory of Hooters regular Steve Price.

“Maybe with all the drinks and all the 'hooters' going around, their brains were just not thinking straight,” Price told KSWB-TV.
