Joe Scarborough predicted that Rick Santorum would "win big" in Tuesday night's voting in the Michigan Republican primary.
After a segment spent lamenting the hard-right rhetorical drift of the GOP, Scarborough interrupted Mika Brzezinski, who was teasing the show's next block of guests.
"Wait, why don't we do a quick prediction?" Scarborough said. He asked the panel to say who they thought would win the Michigan primary. Romney and Santorum are neck-and-neck in the state, and experts such as the New York Times' Nate Silver have dubbed the fight "too close to call."
"I'll go with Romney," Brzezinski said. "I think Romney's probably going to pull it out," guest John Heilemann added.
Mark Halperin and Willie Geist guessed Santorum. Scarborough wondered how many early votes Romney had received so far. Halperin said that he hadn't won enough to put him over the top.
"I think Santorum's going to win big today," Scarborough said, though he stopped just short of saying he thought Santorum would win outright.
