A lightning storm viewed from space looks like it could be a deleted scene from "Independence Day."

Just check out this time-lapse video taken by American astronaut Reid Wiseman, who is currently aboard the International Space Station:

Wiseman has been active on social media since reaching the ISS in May. In June, he sent the first-ever Vine from space, and regularly shares images via both Vine and Twitter.

Lightning has been a recurring theme for him -- like this clip from June showing lightning in the Houston area:

That same month he tweeted an image of a lightning storm over Malaysia:
