'Millennium Development Goals Summit' Comes To A Close (Live Stream)

As the Millennium Development Goals Summit draws to a close, world leaders are asking individuals and organizations to take an active role in helping meet the goals by 2015.

Millennium Promise, the Office of the UN Special Envoy for Malaria, the ONE Campaign, the United Nations Foundation and others are teaming up for the closing ceremonies in New York City.

To coincide with the event, MDGpledges.org has been launched. The website allows individuals and NGOs to pledge to support the fulfillment of the Millennium Development Goals by taking action. For example, one nonprofit may pledge to distribute nets to help communities fight the spread of malaria, while another organization may commit to building a school in a region where it is needed.

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon will be in attendance, along with other dignitaries and celebrities, all encouraging people around the world to commit to helping end global poverty.

The event will be featured live-streaming on HuffPost from 7-8 p.m. EDT. Tune in below.
