News outlets have been going to extreme lengths to prepare for the birth of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's child.
Royal baby fever has hit news executives all over London, who have been obsessing over coverage plans for months. According to the New York Times, news outlets are expecting to receive word when Kate Middleton arrives at the hospital. Some outlets will station themselves outside the private Lindo wing of St. Mary’s Hospital, where Princess Diana also gave birth to Prince William and Prince Harry.
Meanwhile, outlets including Sky News and the BBC will be at Buckingham Palace, a location that plays an important role in the birth. As reported over the past several months, the world will learn about the royal baby when a birth notice, signed by the doctors, is hand-delivered to Buckingham Palace and placed on an easel by the gates for all to see.
Cameras belonging to Sky News and the BBC will zoom in on the notice for audiences back home. Sky News will also have a helicopter that will hover over the area, watching the two and a half mile distance between the hospital and the palace.
