Cynthia Nixon joined a glittering crowd of celebrities, activists and other personalities at the Gay Men's Health Crisis' (GMHC) fifth annual SAVOR dinner, held at New York's Ciprani 42nd Street.

The Emmy and Tony Award-winning "Sex and the City" star, 46, served as host of the event, which honored the Keith Haring Foundation and Joy A. Tomchin. Tomchin, a former GMHC board president who executive produced the Oscar-nominated documentary "How To Survive A Plague," was given the Judith Peabody Humanitarian Award for her advocacy work.

Calling GMHC "a organization I can trust," Nixon told CEO Marjorie Hill in an interview for HuffPost Gay Voices, "I think it's really important to work with groups that were formed in the crucible of the early days of the epidemic. We saw how bad it was in NYC then, and now we see how bad it is across the world, and it's not unfamiliar."
