Previo al encuentro que protagonizarán este fin de semana, los peleadores que participarán en la velada en el Home Depot Center en Carson, California, sostuvieron un entrenamiento público para mostrar un poco de lo que llevaran al ring.

Nonito Donaire enfrentará al japonés Toshiaki Nishioka y pondrá sobre la linea los títulos Supergallo de la Federación Internacional de Boxeo y de la Organización Mundial de Boxeo además de que se pondrá en juego la corona Diamante del Consejo Mundial de Boxeo. Mientras que en la coestelar, en un duelo entre mexicoamericanos invictos, Brandon Ríos enfrentará a Mike Alvarado a doce rounds por el título Internacional de la OMB.

Los cuatro peleadores se presentaron en el Fortune Gym en donde entrenaron y convivieron con la prensa como última parada promocional.

"Esta una pelea que yo quería hacer en esta división. Yo entiendo que Nishioka ha sido el mejor en esta categoría por mucho tiempo y me motiva mucho enfrentarme a ese tipo de rivales", dijo 'Filipino' Flash, quien entrenó al lado de su compañero de gimnasio Brandon Ríos y bajo las órdenes de Robert García.

Por su parte, Nishioka - quien ha peleado en cinco ocasiones fuera de su país - comentó que el saber que enfrentará a un peleador que es considerado libra por libra lo motivó a realizar uno de los campamentos más completos.

"Donaire es uno de los mejores peleadores y quiero demostrar que sigo siendo el rey de la división", dijo el peleador de 36 años.

Por su parte, Brandon Ríos comentó que siente mucho respeto por su rival, pero a pesar de ese respeto aseguró que ganará él, pues es mejor.

"A diferencia de mis últimas dos peleas cuando estaba sólo trabajando para dar el peso, esta vez trabajé para la pelea y se que será una pelea fuerte y nadie saldrá decepcionado después de verla. Tanto Mike y yo vamos a buscar la victoria a toda costa y por nuestros estilos creo que será emocionante", auguró Ríos

Alvarado, peleador invicto en 33 peleas, comentó:

"Esta es la pelea más importante de mi carrera, Brandon ya fue campeón mundial y ha demostrado ser un peleador de mucho coraje sobre el ring. Pero siento que estoy al mismo nivel y que las 140 libras lo voy a vencer pues esta es una pelea entre dos boxeadores fuertes y valientes y vamos a dejar todo en el ring", dijo Alvarado.
