These Ducks Love A Dog So Much It Hurts

Especially when it's unrequited puppy love between four frisky male Indian runner ducks and one Labrador retriever named Miedoso.

According to Miedoso's owner, Ulrike Kersjes, the ducks try to mate with the poor dog whenever they get a chance because there are no female ducks near her home in Berlin, Germany.

"It always looks like the four of them are putting their heads together to think up a plan," she says, according to the subtitles in the video above. "While the first one observes the situation, the other three all begin to jump on the dog."

Initially Kersjes thought the dog might be the one to hurt the young ducklings, but as the birds grew she realized her dog was the one that needed protection from the ducks.

Unfortunately for the ducks, the dog does not share enough common DNA for them to mate and create a viable hybrid offspring. Still, we do wish we could see what a real life dird looks like (dog + bird).
