This week brought several big headlines in extreme weather news:

  • Climate Central reported on the emerging “modeling gap” in U.S. weather forecasting could lead to great economic losses.
  • A Senate spending proposal would increase NOAA weather satellite funding by over $100 million.
  • In Hurricane Sandy-battered New Jersey, coastal homeowners are battling the government over beach construction projects. Many want dunes and built and beaches widened, but others fear losses of ocean views and further development.
