Jon Stewart Tries To Make Bill O'Reilly Admit White Privilege Exists. And Fails.

Jon Stewart, Bill O'Reilly Battle Over White Privilege
|

Jon Stewart had one request for Bill O'Reilly during their latest interview battle Wednesday night on "The Daily Show."

"Admit that there is such a thing as white privilege," Stewart said off the bat.

The thing is, that's not such an easy thing to do. See, O'Reilly has long denied the existence of white privilege, even publicly stating on air that his program "does not believe" in the ideology.

O'Reilly pulled out all the usual defenses against Stewart Wednesday night, arguing that Asian Americans are more privileged than whites and that the concept of white privilege hasn't existed for years.

"Maybe you haven't figured out that there is no more slavery, no more Jim Crow, and the most powerful man in the world is a black American, and the most powerful woman in the world -- Oprah Winfrey -- is black!" O'Reilly yelled.

"Oh, boy," Stewart responded. "Slavery and Jim Crow are dead, but the residual effects of that systemic subjugation exists today."

Finally, O'Reilly seemed to agree: "It absolutely exists."

Oh, wait, not so fast.

"It exists for every race," he said.

Looks like Stewart isn't going to get his request fulfilled. But he did make the Fox News host think a little with this one:

"They don't stop and frisk Wall Street bankers," Stewart noted. "Even though they've done far more damage to the economy."
