"Estamos muy contentos con la (medalla de) plata pero no nos conformamos, vamos a pelear por el oro también", expresó el técnico Luis Fernando Tena al tener comunicación por teléfono con el presidente de México Felipe Calderón, luego del triunfo por 3-1 sobre Japón en Wembley.

Con emoción, el "Flaco" atendió la llamada y expresó su sentir por los goles de Marco Fabián, Oribe Peralta y Javier Cortés para clasificar a la final del torneo de futbol varonil de los Juegos Olímpicos.

"Si, muchas gracias señor presidente. Sí, la verdad que es una muy buena generación de jugadores, con mucha calidad, pero sobre todo con mucho carácter, mucha personalidad, destacaría la gran mentalidad que tienen, no sólo este grupo de jóvenes, sino todos los de México, los que estudian, los que quieren trabajar, los que quieren salir adelante, ya sea en México o en el extranjero", expresó.

Luego agregó: "Qué bueno que nuestra juventud va mejorando en todos los aspectos y niveles".

Atento a las palabras del mandatario, respondió: "Cómo no señor presidente, con mucho gusto, siempre hablamos eso con los jugadores de la alegría que nos proporciona a nosotros provocar alegría en un país tan futbolero como el nuestro y ojalá que la gente festeje en todo el país, incluso los mexicanos que viven en el extranjero, en Estados Unidos de América donde hay millones".

"Muchas gracias señor presidente. Sí, estamos muy contentos con la plata, pero no nos conformamos, vamos a pelear por el oro también, muchas gracias por la llamada. Que le vaya bien. Hasta luego", expresó el entrenador, satisfecho porque la selección a su cargo ha acrecentado su nivel de juego.

Sobre el diálogo con Felipe Calderón, Luis Fernando Tena dijo que "Felicitando a nuestro equipo, a nuestra juventud y muy contento de la alegría que hay en todo el país, eso fue básicamente, que se lo transmitiera todo eso a nuestros jugadores que como siempre son los protagonistas principales por mucha influencia que puedan tener los técnicos, el juego le corresponde a los futbolistas, en su actitud está la grandeza y hoy gracias a Dios estamos en la final".
