For this week’s episode of HuffPost Black Voices’ weekly entertainment news series BV 365, host Teri Johnson heads to Las Vegas for the “Hippest Trip in America,” the 2012 Soul Train Music Awards. Johnson caught up with some music’s best while on the red carpet.

R&B sextet, New Edition, were honored with the Lifetime Achievement award, and group member, Ronnie DeVoe, pointed out that Soul Train and the legendary Don Cornelius were the first to give the group some national exposure. He also stated, “we’re just really thankful to know that all six of us are here to be able accept our roses and smell our roses.”

In addition to accepting the award, New Edition followed up by performing their hit songs Candy Girl, Mr. Telephone Man and If It Isn’t Love. Other notables also revealed their favorite Soul Train moments as well as what dance move they would bust down that famous Soul Train line.
