Peloteros gays en las Grandes Ligas 2013; injusticia social del Siglo XXI

Si un pelotero gay saliera del closet ante sus compañeros, tendría que irse de por vida, no sólo del equipo, no sólo de la liga, sino que estaría obligado a abandonar totalmente del béisbol profesional.

** Después de 66 años de haber aceptado el regreso de los negros, MLB permanece tan homofóbica como siempre.

** Hay traficantes de drogas en el Hall de la Fama, pero si algún bigleaguer sale del closet, lo botan del béisbol.


En las Grandes Ligas 2013 juegan consumidores de drogas y alcohólicos, aparentemente rehabilitados. También hay bigleaguers que agredieron personas, incluso a sus esposas e hijos. Juegan juntos rubios, negros, amarillos y pelirrojos. También seguidores de docenas de religiones.

Y todos pueden presentarse públicamente tal cual son, sin ocultar nada de nada.

Pero si un pelotero gay saliera del closet ante sus compañeros, tendría que irse de por vida, no sólo del equipo, no sólo de la liga, sino que estaría obligado a abandonar totalmente del béisbol profesional.

Eso es injusto, en una época cuando los tribunales tratan de legalizar la unión entre personas del mismo sexo, cuando el clero tolera los curas gays, igual que las Fuerzas Armadas de Estados Unidos a los que hay entre sus militares. Cuando la mayoría de los padres ya aceptan con gusto a sus hijos homosexuales y a sus hijas lesbianas. Cuando los legisladores de numerosos países estudian permitir la venta y consumo de drogas y estupefacientes. Y cuando hay traficantes de drogas, convictos y confesos, en el Hall de la Fama de Cooperstown.

De paso advierto a esos, empeñados en afirmar que si se legaliza la unión entre gays y lesbianas "se extinguirá la humanidad, porque no podrán procrear", que traten de no ser, o de hacerse pasar, por eunucos mentales.

Desde antes de transformarnos en humanos hubo uniones de parejas de dos nacidos con sexo masculino y de parejas nacidas con sexo femenino. Entre tanto, el 90% restante, que somos los heterosexuales, nos hemos ocupado de la procreación. ¡Ya somos más de siete mil millones!. Y seguiremos reproduciéndonos igual cuando se trate a esa minoría del 10% como debe ser.

Es difícil creer que 66 años después de la aparición del primer negro del siglo XX en Grandes Ligas, Jackie Róbinson, los cuales se cumplen este 12 de abril, aún se discrimene a los homosexuales en las Mayores.

Y se les discrimina con el mismo sistema mediante el cual se dejó fuera a los negros hasta 1946. Es decir, sin una regla escrita, solo por acuerdo tácito entre ejecutivos homofóbicos, encabezados por Tom LaSorda, quien sin embargo, tuvo un hijo gay, que murió de SIDA.

En las Grandes Ligas y en las otras categorías del beisbol, ha habido peloteros y umpires homosexuales toda la vida, en porcentaje de uno de cada 10, que es la escala mundial. Pero solo tres fueron tan valientes como para declarar públicamente lo que realmente eran.

Recientemente, "USA-Today" publicó, en trabajo firmado por Jorge L. Ortiz, los nombres de algunos bigleaguers que se oponen públicamente a aceptar compañeros gays, Justin Verlander, David Ortiz, José Bautista, Prince Fielder, C.J. Wilson y Carlos González.

Y durante la temporada 2012, el cubano Yunel Escobar (Blue Jays), fue suspendido por tres juegos, al aparecer en el terreno con la palabra "maricón" escrita en una mejilla, lo que se considero insultante para los homosexuales.

No obstante, hay bigleaguers como Kevin Youkilis, quien dice...: "Yo aceptaría a los gays en el equipo donde juego, como acepto a cualquier otro, ¿por qué no?".

Y Brandon McCarthy, Dallas Braden y Jémile Weeks grabaron un mensaje para televisión en respaldo a los gays, las lesbianas y los bisexuales.

Pero a los otros es difícil hacerlos aterrizar en la realidad de la justicia social. Sin embargo, ninguno conoce que alguien sea homosexual porque un día le provocó serlo. Eso no es posible. Se nace así o no se nace así.

¡¿Quién sería capaz de convertirse en homosexual, sabiendo, como lo sabe todo el mundo, las vejaciones, desprecios, discriminación y abusos que sufren ellos?!

Es lamentable tanta ignorancia en pleno siglo XXI.

De todas maneras, debe estar cercano el día cuando peloteros y umpires gays de todas las categorías, puedan sobrevivir con tanta felicidad como los heterosexuales... ¿Y por qué no, ah?
