Russell Westbrook Teams Up With Barneys For Multi-Designer Collaboration, Are You Game?

Russell Westbrook Teams Up With Barneys
|

If you've kept up with all the head-turning fashions that NBA players have been sporting off the court, then you're fully aware that Russell Westbrook is a certified style star.

Now the Oklahoma City Thunder baller's sartorial skills have landed him an exclusive collaboration with Barneys.

The luxury retailer has tapped the elite athlete to team up with a diverse list of menswear designers -- including Want Les Essentiels, Naked & Famous, Marcelo Burlon, Selima Optique, Del Toro and Globe Trotter and Nike Jordan -- to design several collections of denim, sportswear, leather goods, footwear, bespoke luggage and eyewear that will be available at all Barneys stores and online.

“We chose the designers because they were experts in their field and there was a natural fluidity with Russell’s style and taste. But everything was very collaborative,” Tom Kalenderian, Barneys executive vice president for menswear, told WWD. He added that Westbrook was “very accessible” while working on the project.

“I’m kind of like a designer,” Westbrook told WWD. “My personal style changes every season.”

And if his love for bold printed shirts, snug trousers, lensless glasses, and backpacks is any indication of what we can expect from the collabo, then we're in for a treat.

Perhaps this new partnership will also help heal the black eye Barneys is still sporting after those racial discrimination lawsuits the company was hit with last year.
