The family of Sierra LaMar, a missing teenager from Morgan Hill, Calif., is hoping that offering a $10,000 reward will lead to their daughter's safe return.
Steve Lamar's, the 15-year-old's father, said the family got the reward money through fundraisers and donations and that they hope it provides any additional incentive for anyone with information on his daughter's whereabouts.
"We're hoping it might give someone the motivation to come forward," Steve Lamar told the Contra Costa Times. "We're desperate for anything that can bring her home to us."
Sierra Lamar was last seen March 16 leaving her home for school around 7:15 a.m. to walk to a bus stop, CBS News reported. Police dogs searching for the girl lost her scent in the driveway of her home, but investigators have said that they think the high school sophomore was likely the victim of an acquaintance abduction.
Meanwhile, the search for her went on despite the Easter holiday. Thousands of volunteers searched areas of Santa Clara County for clues in Sierra's disappearance, including San Francisco 49ers Alex Smith, Joe Staley, Delanie Walker and Scott Tolzien, the San Jose Mercury-News reported.
The NFL stars made it clear they did not welcome the media attention, but Sierra's sister, Danielle, told the Contra Costa Times that they were grateful for the celebrity support.
"When those kinds of people get involved, it gives us a whole new audience," she said.
