Stephen Colbert Explains Why It's So Difficult To Cover Israel-Gaza Conflict

The conflict between Israel and Gaza has spurred allegations of media bias from both sides. On Thursday, Stephen Colbert broke down both sides of the media war down for viewers.

On one hand, some commentators have pointed to Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu's appearances on American television as evidence of the media's pro-Israel bias. "Really? I do not see a pro-Israel bias on MSNBC or CNN's 'Situation Kibbutz,'" Colbert joked. He then played a clip of commentators alleging anti-Israel bias, including Fox News' Lauren Ashburn saying that Netanyahu simply "can't compete" with images of dead bodies in Gaza.

Colbert couldn't agree more. "Because that's how war works: whoever has the most dead bodies wins," he said.

Later, he tried to report news about the conflict without saying a single word that would offend either side. Needless to say, he didn't make it very far.

"The Colbert Report" airs Monday through Thursday at 11:30 p.m. ET on Comedy Central.
