The Left: The New Racist Right (Part II)

On the eve of Barack Obama announcing his official run for the white house, I was lamenting to some of my liberal friends - as opposed to my friends who are conservative of which I have none - about the surreptitious bigotry being displayed by liberals for Obama. As opposed to the overt racism being displayed by some conservatives - hello, John Gibson you racist jerk! No, I don't know John Gibson, so I can't say he's a racist jerk. I can say he's a journalist who disseminates third hand information without verifying facts. Anyway... I'm talking to my liberal friends about some subtle bigotry and one of them says, "You people think everything is about race." "You people." Actually said it. Okay. I give up. I'm throwing in the towel. Drinking the Kool-Aid. Announcing to the world that as an authentic black man I really love the way America has openly embraced Barack Obama's run for the white house. Not a hint of latent liberal bigotry to be found anywhere. I mean, sure, you have the occasional Bidenism about an "articulate, clean" black. But I now blame Biden's comment more on the likes of Alan Keyes and Carol Mosley Braun not being more obviously articulate and bathed than on Joe Biden having spent the last twenty years living under a rock. Fortunately the media's all over a clearly racist comment like that. Unfortunately the media occasionally displays its own white bias by throwing up undue fascination with the fact that, according to research polls, Obama's going to have to earn the black vote...just like every other candidate's going to have to earn their votes. Still waiting for the New York Times piece announcing Vilsack is going to have to earn the white, mid-western vote. And waiting... And waiting... But, really, is such hypocritical focus on a politician having to politic the fault of the media for not doing a better job of integrating their work force so somebody would realize that all black people aren't stupid, and just going to vote for a black man 'cause that's what we're told to do at the secret black people meetings we have once a month at Popeye's Fried Chicken? Or is it the fault of black people for having those secret meetings in the first place? I mean, sure, that blacks aren't a uni-mind voting block should've been obvious back in the 2000 primaries when after Al Sharpton, the last great candidate for the abolished position of HNIC, ran second to Howard Dean in the 2000 DC primary; DC being a district that's 70 percent minority and 60 percent black. Only one in five blacks voted for Sharpton in the South Carolina primary. But two thousand was a long time ago, and I don't expect faux liberal white people to continually pay attention to what's going on in black America. Only when it looks like one of us might actually take over the country. And, please, would my people stop complaining every time somebody in the so-called liberal media asks the question: "Is America ready for a black president?" Yes, that question posits a negative. Yeah, the question really should be "can American stand one more rich old out of touch white guy as president," of course the question is in total abeyance of the fact that a black person has been four heart beats away from the presidency for the last seven years. But it's a nice safety valve. Kinda like when the faux liberals start a conversation with: "Do you want me to put some hip hop on?" or come back from vacation and say: "Oh my God, I'm as dark as you!" So for everyone who's saying that Obama-mania is just multiple renderings of the soft bigotry of the liberal plantation manifest as overt curiosity over the seeming uniqueness of the intellectualized black, knock it off with your convoluted thoughts! The fact is that the interest in, and the level of reporting on Obama is right and correct and would remain the same even if Obama was a white male first term Senator from a mid-western state. So quit your bellyaching, sit back and get ready for some Huckabee-Hysteria!

IN ADDITION -

To the few who claim Stanley Crouch is a conservative: any black man who goes with the old school "he's not black enough" bromides is espousing the worst of liberal black values. Enough said. Don't bother posting a comment to the contrary. No need to debate the extent of my assertion's correctness.
