La selección mexicana de fútbol nos hizo soñar a todos los que somos aficionados al fútbol, nos tiene con la esperanza de colar al país en el medallero olímpico del fútbol varonil y así, hacer historia.La sub 23 no la tendrá nada fácil, se medirán ante una selección de Japón que viene con un paso firme en esta justa veraniega. Los nipones dejaron fuera a la favorita del mundo, España (con un marcador 1-0), en la fase de octavos y, además, vencieron a México hace 44 años en su propia casa, terminando el sueño azteca.

La selección mexicana de fútbol nos hizo soñar a todos los que somos aficionados al fútbol, nos tiene con la esperanza de colar al país en el medallero olímpico del fútbol varonil y así, hacer historia.

La sub 23 no la tendrá nada fácil, se medirán ante una selección de Japón que viene con un paso firme en esta justa veraniega. Por ello, México buscará tener una mejor actuación en Juegos Olímpicos. Ellos lograron su pase a semifinales al superar en un dramático encuentro a su similar de Senegal en tiempos extras.

Cuatro goles marcaron la diferencia sobre dos de Senegal en Londres 2012, pero, ¿llegarán a disputar una medalla?, ¿se repetirá la historia dolorosa de las olimpiadas en México 1968... cobrará venganza ante Japón?

El encuentro del próximo martes 7 de agosto recordará lo vivido por nuestros aztecas en México 1968, cuando, el 24 de octubre, la escuadra nipona derrotó 2-0 al 'Tri' y así, arrebató la posibilidad de conquistar el bronce en su casa.

En esos Juegos Olímpicos, México no tuvo la oportunidad de subir al podio ya que cayó 3-2 en la Semifinal ante Bulgaria, escuadra que más adelante se quedaría con la Plata tras perder la final con Hungría.

Este antecedente debe alertar aún más a los seleccionados aztecas dirigidos por Luis Fernando Tena, quienes no deben salir confiados y sí con la mira de enfrentar a un rival rápido, vigoroso y concentrados en el medallero, quien le ganará 2-1 en un amistoso celebrado en marzo de este año, Japón.

La selección japonesa, quien jugó en el grupo D, llegó a semifinales con un camino, aunque no espectacular, sí constante. Además de ganarle a la favorita España, en su segundo partido fue por Marruecos (con un marcador 1-0); y finalmente empató a cero goles con Honduras. En el último encuentro, en la fase de cuartos de final derrotó Egipto por 3 -0 y así obtuvo su pase a semifinales.

La trayectoria de México, en el grupo B, fue un tanto diferente. En la fase de octavos, empató con Corea a cero goles; venció en su segundo encuentro a Gabón 2-0; y en el tercer partido apenas ganó por la mínima a Suecia.

Ambas escuadras vienen muy parejas pero una de ellas con la ventaja de la historia, Japón.

¿Podrá México vengar la afrenta sufrida en sus propios juegos olímpicos en 1968?
