George Zimmerman fue arrestado por protagonizar una pelea doméstica con la esposa y el suegro y se encuentra bajo custodia de las autoridades de Lake Mary, en Florida, indicó CNN.

El servicio de emergencia del 911 respondió a una llamada de Shellie Zimmerman, quien le solicitó el divorcio la semana pasada, pidiendo protección porque su marido la amenazó a ella y a su padre con una pistola y le golpeó la nariz a éste último.

Durante el incidente doméstico, Zimmerman también habría roto un iPad, que le había arrebatado de forma violenta a su mujer de las manos.

"Hasta el momento lo que sabemos y lo que podemos confirmar es que ha sido llevado a un centro de detención para investigación", explicó Zach Hudson, vocero de la policía de Lake Mary a la cadena televisiva CNN.

El incidente ocurre dos meses después que Zimmerman fuera absuelto de los cargos que pesaban en su contra por la muerte a tiros del joven negro Trayvon Martin.

Zimmerman no había sido arrestado en la tarde y agentes de la policía se encontraban en casa del padre de Shellie Zimmerman intentando determinar lo que ocurrió.
