Giulio's Pizzeria Cracks Down On Saggy Pants At New Jersey Eatery

Pizza Parlor Cracks Down On Saggy Pants
|

Giulio's Pizzeria put a sign up so customers' pants don't come down.

The green placard on the door of the Dunellen, N.J., restaurant reads in part: "Saggy Pants Prohibited On These Premises!"

The decision to spell out the rule came after the pizzeria asked one youth to pull up his trousers and he replied that there was no sign on the door saying he had to, NJ.com reported.

"Every place should have this rule," Luis Salmeron told the outlet, adding that he was tired of seeing peoples' "dirty laundry."

Employee Joanne Bruzzese told The Huffington Post that she hadn't noticed any change in patronage since the policy began making the news this week. Asked if any diners had protested, she answered, "Not as far as I know."

The pizza parlor's Facebook page seemed relatively quiet as of Thursday morning, with just a few comments of support for the saggy pants ban.

Maria Herrera of Giulio's explained the rule to 13 Action News: "We're a family business; we're all about food; we don't like [saggy pants] in here."

Giulio's has company in enforcing the dress code. The town of Wildwood, N.J., also cracked down on droopy trousers on its boardwalk this summer. And in April, Terrebonne Parish in Louisiana approved an ordinance charging $50 for the first baggy pants offense.
