New Video Offers Peek At Stephany Flores' Killer Behind Bars

Days after Joran van der Sloot was transferred to a remote Peruvian penitentiary, a new video has surfaced featuring the killer behind bars.

"I am making this video for my own security," said van der Sloot, the prime suspect in the 2005 disappearance of American teen Natalee Holloway.

According to NBCnews.com, the short video was shot by van der Sloot from inside the Challapalca Maximum Security Prison, near the Bolivian border.

In the video, van der Sloot claims the director of the prison gave him the phone, but he said he does not know why the director allegedly did so.

Van der Sloot was transferred last month from Piedras Gordas prison in Lima, to Challapalca Maximum Security Prison. The transfer was made after he allegedly threatened a guard for confiscating his phone.

The Dutchman is serving a 28-year prison sentence for the murder of Stephany Flores. The 21-year-old business student was found stabbed to death in van der Sloot's Lima hotel room on June 2, 2010.

Van der Sloot is also the prime suspect in the disappearance of Holloway. The 18-year-old from Mountain Brook, Alabama, vanished while on a class trip to Aruba in 2005. She was last seen leaving an Oranjestad nightclub with van der Sloot, then a 17-year-old honor student living in Aruba. Holloway's body has never been found, and van der Sloot has not been charged in her disappearance.

In addition to a new haircut, the newly released video of van der Sloot includes footage of him being searched by guards and having his blood pressure taken.

It remains unclear Tuesday how the video made it out of the prison.
