Here's something you don't hear every day.

The Ledger reports that a man is accused of stealing the ashes of a woman's dead sister and threatening to "snort them."

Angela Speakman used to live with Joseph Pointer, 51 of Lakeland, Fla., according to police. After stealing the ashes, Pointer allegedly told Speakman's mother, "I've got your dead daughter's ashes and I'm going to snort them," according to an arrest affidavit.

Jail records show Pointer has been arrested twice for battery, once in 2007 and again in 2008.

As bizarre of a crime as it might seem, boosting ashes is apparently not as uncommon as one might think.

NBC Connecticut reported on a man who, after a spat with his girlfriend, allegedly stole her grandmother's ashes.

And just a few months ago, WCTV reported on an urn with a man's ashes inside that was taken by a burglar and later found in a dumpster.
