Nobody has ever been happier after missing a free throw.

On Thursday night, 13-year-old Derrick Jenkins saw his mother, who had been serving in Kuwait, for the first time in eight months.. The surprise reunion came while he was playing in a middle school basketball game at Legacy Middle School in San Antonio, Texas. Luckily for those not in the stands, KSAT-12 was on hand to capture the heartwarming moment and explain the scheme that set it up.

Having arranged for a fake technical foul to put Jenkins at the line, coaches escorted his mother, Lt. Col. Cotina Jenkins-Sellers, onto the court. Jenkins missed both free throws, and then his mother encouraged him.

"Aw, that's alright Derrick," she said.

At the sound of her voice, Jenkins turned around abruptly. His reaction at seeing her will bring tears to your eyes.
