Female Photographers Auction: Works From Avon Collection Prevent Domestic Violence (PHOTOS)

Beauty From A Woman's POV
Open Image Modal

A collection of photographs from notable female artists is heading to auction, with proceeds benefitting the Avon Foundation for Women, an organization dedicated to breast cancer research and ending domestic violence.

The Avon Collection spans six decades of female artists including visionaries like Louise Dahl-Wolfe, Cindy Sherman and Sally Mann. Built around the mantra "Beauty through the eyes of women," the collection subverts the tradition of male photographers capturing the female form, instead presenting images from a woman's point of view.

Over 90 works will head to auction at Freeman's Auctioneers on September 10, 2013. In the meantime check out female photographers doing what they do best in the slideshow below.
