Un año de inactividad y 36 años no fueron impedimento alguno para que Floyd Mayweather se impusiera de manera unilateral al peleador mexicano Robert Guerrero la noche del sábado en el MGM Grand de Las Vegas, Nevada.
Guerrero, falto de recursos y por completo en la desesperación de no poder lograr conectar ningún golpe, cayó en completa desesperanza y no fue capaz de cambiar estrategia y adaptarse al plan de pleea que le ofrecía el aún invicto estadounidense.

Ante un total de 15 mil 880 asistentes, Floyd movió a placer al peleador mexicoamericano, quien a pesar de la motivación, no pudo conectar más de dos golpes al hilo.
“Es un peleador grande. Realmente cuesta trabajo conectarlo. Fue un reto en todos los sentidos y aprendí mucho de esta. Seguiré adelante”, dijo un frustrado Fantasma Guerrero, quien sumó su segundo descalabro profesional ocho años después.
Con este triunfo Floyd Mayweather mantuvo la calidad de invicto en 43 peleas profesionales y antes de adelantarse en planes aseguró que buscará un receso antes de pesar en septiembre.
La pelea que se llevó la noche, fue la protagonizada por los mexicanos Daniel Ponce de León y Abner Mares, quienes dieron muestra de gran calidad durante los nueve rounds que duró la contienda.
Con mayor inteligencia y mostrando gran adaptación a la división de los pesos Pluma, el tapatío Abner Mares logró integrarse al selecto grupo de peleadores mexicanos trimonarcas mundiales, rompiendo récord. Mares logró reunirse a Julio César Chávez González, Erik Morales, Marco Antonio Barrera, Juan Manuel Márquez, Jorge Arce, Humberto Soto en tan sólo 21 meses.
Mares Martínez, quien a ratos intercambió la batuta del encuentro con Ponce de León logró llevarse la victoria al lograr conectar un potente gancho de derecha a la mandíbula de Ponce que lo mandó desmadejado a la lona, obligando al réferi a detener la contienda a 40 segundos de detener la contienda.
Santa Cruz sigue invicto
El peso y la edad fueron demasiado para el venezolano Alexander Muñoz, la noche del sábado cuando cayó ante los puños del mexicano Leo Santa Cruz.
El michoacano de 24 años de edad, quien debutó en la división de los Supergallo, mandó a la lona a Muñoz en dos ocasiones y para la segunda caída – durante el quinto episodio – la esquina del ex campeón sudamericano decidió intervenir y parar la pelea.
Esta victoria significa la número 23 de su carrera profesional y prometió seguir peleando con mucha fuerza hasta dominar su segunda división. Con anterioridad Santa Cruz fue monarca Gallo de la Federación Internacional de Boxeo.
