In my final interview, I spoke with Ganzalo Canseco, the chief of staff of Mexico's Minister of Foreign Affairs. The event I was attending, The Forum on Communicating Climate Change, was hosted by the government of Mexico, and is one of the main events that they hosted outside of the negotiations. I asked why they chose to focus on climate communication.
He responded that Felipe Calderon, Mexico's president, wanted the public to be more involved. He also thought that Cancun and Mexico have done a relatively good job at hosting the 20,000 people who have come to Cancun to participate in COP16.
