Atlanta Hawks point guard Jeff Teague knocked down a circus shot even he couldn't believe went in on Thursday night against Indiana.
Late in the fourth quarter, Teague got the ball near half-court with just four seconds left on the shot clock. Needing to move fast, Teague used a screen and drove to his left. With Indiana's Luis Scola blanketing him along the sideline, the 25-year-old launched a one-handed three-pointer and swished it as time expired.
All Teague could do was shrug his shoulders and smile.
The refs reviewed the play to make sure Teague was behind the three-point line, which he was. But under NBA rules, they couldn't review whether he stepped out of bounds before taking the shot (which he appeared to do). The shot extended the Hawks' lead to 87-78 with 2:50 left in the game. They went on to win 98-85 to take a 2-1 series lead.
Just like everyone who was watching, Teague did not think he was going to make that shot.
