Who knew Colonel Sanders could be so...sinister?

The vintage KFC ad above reveals a totally obscure side of the famously smiley chicken spokesman. In this clip from 1967, a 77-year-old Colonel Sanders is seated on a lie detector laughing like a mad scientist and refusing to unveil KFC's secret recipe to a group of housewives.

The late-blooming Colonel Harland David Sanders didn't start his fried franchise until reaching retirement age. Despite the actor's frightening demeanor in this commercial, we appreciate the real Sanders' unexpected success.
