Of course we all hope that a simple drug or operation would alleviate the pain and suffering of the elderly as well as increase life expectancy.

With some geriatric problems, this may be possible. Perhaps, something that could come quicker is having a home visit by a doctor or physician assistant via Skype or something similar, using the Internet. This could be aided by a home blood-test kit and the already existent blood-pressure monitor.
