Clayton Price Baker Arrested: Augusta Cops Arrest Would-Be Sandbagger At Masters

Attempted Sandbagger Arrested At Augusta

By Golfweek Staff, Golfweek

A Masters patron was arrested Sunday after unsuccessfully attempting to steal a cup of sand from Augusta National, according to The Augusta Chronicle.

Clayton Price Baker, 40, slipped under the ropes at the conclusion of Sunday’s final round and attempted to fill his cup with sand from a nearby bunker. Richmond County sheriff’s Capt. Scott Gay told the Chronicle that Baker, of Ohio, had been drinking heavily and failed to actually get anything in the cup.

Still, a short foot chase ensued and Baker was apprehended by Augusta National security guards and deputy sheriffs. He was charged with disorderly conduct, according to the Richmond County Sheriff's Office. Baker’s bond was set at $285.
