DC United's last 6 home games had seen them with a record of L-W-L-W-L-W. With this game against the 2nd worst team in the Western Conference, who were on a three game losing streak themselves, there was a chance to break that streak.

United were missing Steve Birnbaum and Alvaro Saborio on international duty, with Chris Rolfe and Patrick Nyarko continuing to be absent due to concussions.

While Seattle were missing Clint Dempsey and Nelson Valdez on international duty

The game began with United pressing through Luciano Acosta

...Fabian Espindola

...Jared Jeffrey

...Lamar Neagle

But the Seattle defense stopped everything that was headed towards goal

By halftime United had taken 10 shots to Seattle's 3,but both only had one shot on goal, neither of which had found a way into the net.

In the second half,both teams teased and probed

But the tackles kept flying in, with no way through to goal

Until the 79th minute when Seattle's Jordan Morris scored the opening goal

...then 3 minutes later Joevin Jones doubled Seattle's advantage.

United attempted to find a way back into the game in the last 8 minutes

...but it was to no avail, as the game ended with Seattle getting their first win in 4 games, and United continuing their W-L streak with a L
