Nunca como hoy México está obligado a ganar a Estados Unidos, no sólo por el orgullo que reviste llevarse el clásico de la CONCACAF, ahora son las aspiraciones mundialistas de los aztecas las que están en juego.

El 'Tri' choca este martes en Columbus, Ohio contra la selección de las barras y las estrellas en juego válido por el Hexagonal Final. La situación de los verdes es apremiante por perder el viernes en su estadio contra la selección de Honduras, resultado que originó un cambio en el timón tras el cese de José Manuel de la Torre y la llegada de Luis Fernando Tena.

México es cuarto lugar de la tabla con ocho puntos, cinco menos que Estados Unidos, que marcha segundo. El torneo otorga tres cupos directos a Brasil 2014, más un pase a repechaje contra Nueva Zelanda. La lógica indica que el otrora 'Gigante de la CONCACAF' aspira a esa repesca y está en competencia directa con Panamá, actualmente quinto lugar con siete puntos.

En el seno tricolor todo es confusión, inclusive el nuevo técnico no sabe decir si seguirá en el cargo al finalizar este día.

"Vamos a ver que pasa después del juego, vamos charlar con los dirigentes, a ver que piensan de nosotros, inclusive el 'Chepo'... Él nos trajo aquí, ya que ver si quiere que sigamos", dijo el 'Flaco' Tena en conferencia de prensa después de la última práctica del equipo en el estadio del Crew de la MLS.

Tena, ex auxiliar de De la Torre, anticipó que no habrá cambios drásticos en el equipo que encajó el segundo 'Aztecazo' de la historia: "No podemos cambiar de un día a otro, ni si quiera creo que tengamos que cambiar todo, hay que respetar el dibujo de lo que es nuestra selección".

Por su parte el seleccionador norteamericano, Jurgen Klinsmann, dejó en claro que no se confía del mal momento de su rival.

"No importa como llegan, vamos a tener un juego difícil, ellos están en problemas y eso hará que tengamos un juego tenso".

"México va a estar en el Mundial", concluyó el alemán.

El juego está programado para iniciar a las 7:00 pm ET en un estadio donde México nunca ha podido ganar.
