Hugo Chávez ya no será embalsamado , como confirmó este viernes el presidente interino Nicolás Maduro. Los restos reposan ya en una estructura llamada "Flor de Cuatro Elementos", que representa "el florecer de la nueva patria y la nueva América", según el gobierno venezolano. Este viernes 15 de marzo después de trasladar el féretro de Chávez desde la Academia Militar - donde se mantuvo por 10 días en capilla ardiente- hasta el "Cuartel de la Montaña", donde el militar gestó el fallido golpe de estado de 1992, los restos fueron depositados en una obra arquitéctonia, en forma de flor, un diseño del artista venezolano Fruto Vivas.

"Los oficiales que lo acompañaron aquel 4 de febrero de 1992 [Día del golpe de estado] hacen una cadena humana para acompañarlo hasta la 'Flor de Cuatro Elementos'", se indicó en el discurso final mientras los oficiales cargaban el féretro.

"El significado de esta flor es : fuego, viento, tierra y agua y es un diseño para el Comandante de la Revolución Bolivariana: Hugo Chávez Frías". El hecho de ser una flor representa la metáfora del renacer de la nueva patria y de la América nueva. La flor de frente al fuego representa la intensidad de los ideales inmortales del Comandante, ideales sustentados en los principios del Libertador y Padre de la Patria Simón Bolívar", dijo el locutor durante el acto del traslado de las exequias.

Posteriormente de haber depositado el féretro en la escultura, la familia inmediata: sus hijos, hermanos y padres estuvieron por un espacio de 10 minutos despidiéndose de líder socialista al lado del ataúd.

El vocero del gobierno de Venezuela anunció el viernes que ya fue completamente descartado que el cuerpo del presidente Hugo Chávez vaya a ser embalsamado, como había sugerido esta semana el mandatario encargado del país.

El ministro de Comunicación de Venezuela, Ernesto Villegas, escribió en su cuenta de Twitter que se descartó el embalsamamiento tras un informe de una comisión médica rusa.

"Comisión médica rusa estableció que para practicar el procedimiento, el cuerpo debía ser trasladado a Rusia por lapso de entre 7 y 8 meses", tuiteó el funcionario.

Añadió que "tras ese informe, quedó descartado el embalsamamiento, que era una aspiración sentida de numerosos compatriotas".

Ya el miércoles el presidente encargado Nicolás Maduro había dicho que era "bastante difícil" que se concretaran los planes, porque ese procedimiento debía haberse comenzado con más tiempo atrás.

Maduro aseguró entonces que la decisión de embalsamar a Chávez, fallecido el 5 de marzo, se había tomado a sugerencia de gobernantes extranjeros que estuvieron en el país para el funeral de Estado del mandatario que gobernó Venezuela por 14 años. No precisó quiénes fueron esos presidentes.

Un día después de su muerte, el cuerpo de Chávez fue llevado a la Academia Militar en Caracas, donde permaneció hasta la madrugada del viernes en un continuo acto velatorio por 10 días. Miles de personas formaron filas permanentes para poder verle el rostro bajo un cristal colocado en su ataúd.

Chávez, de 58 años, falleció a consecuencia del cáncer que lo aquejó por casi dos años.

Expertos dijeron esta semana a la AP que el embalsamamiento de un cuerpo debe hacerse en las horas posteriores a la muerte de una persona, porque de lo contrario el proceso de descomposición puede impedirlo.

Añadieron que los restos de Chávez debieron haber sido sometidos a tratamientos químicos antes de ponerlo en la academia militar para que la gente lo viera, porque de lo contrario habría presentado cambios, como de color.

En el pasado han sido embalsamos otros gobernantes socialistas y comunistas como el ruso Josef Stalin y los norcoreanos Kim Il Sung y Kim Jong Il, padre e hijo, respectivamente.

El cuerpo de Chávez fue trasladado el viernes a su morada provisional en el museo de una barriada pobre del oeste de la capital en medio de honores militares.
