FBI officials questioned a Los Angeles bank manager on Wednesday after she was strapped to a supposed bomb and forced by two thieves to steal money from her own bank.
The bank manager -- who is not a suspect in the case -- was allegedly abducted on Tuesday night and held captive until 8:30 a.m. Wednesday morning, when her accused kidnappers took her to the Bank Of America where she works and told her to rob it, Reuters reports.
"A device was strapped to the woman's body," said Capt. Mike Parker of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, according to ABC News. "She was told that it was explosives and she was ordered to go into the bank, take out all the money. She did do that in fear for her life."
Once inside, the bank manager explained the situation to employees and collected cash. She tossed the money out of the building, allowing the suspects to grab the loot and flee in a two-door vehicle, possibly a white Kia, according to KABC.
The woman continued to wear what appeared to be an explosive device until bomb technicians arrived on the scene to detonate it using sandbags and a remote-controlled wheeled robot.
Other business in the area were temporarily evacuated.
Investigators are attempting to locate possible surveillance footage of the incident. No arrests have been made.
