Kathleen Castles, 39, of New Jersey, became the first woman to win the overall Myrtle Beach Marathon in South Carolina, topping the next closest runner by more than three minutes.
Billy Shue, 27, of Charlotte, North Carolina, finished second and Anthony Ivey, 43, of Tabor City, North Carolina, placed third in the annual 5k race on Saturday. (Find complete results here.)
Castles' result was a personal best time, just over two hours and 40 minutes, per the AP, which notes last year's Myrtle Beach Marathon was canceled due to snow.
"I'm just euphoric," Castles told the Myrtle Beach Sun News. She'll head to the Olympic Trials in Houston to compete for a spot on the U.S. team.
This year's marathon was touted as the most technically-advanced in its 14 year history, as each runner had a tracking chip in their bib and progress could be monitored via iPhone, iPad or Android apps.
