Two years ago today, President Barack Obama addressed the nation and announced Osama bin Laden -- the leader of al Qaeda, the organization believed to be responsible for the 9/11 attacks -- was dead.
Obama told Americans bin Laden was killed after a U.S. operation carried out in Abbottabad, Pakistan led to the discovery of a compound where U.S. intelligence services believed bin Laden was hiding. Bin laden was killed after 1 a.m. local time on May 2 in the compound.
