Zebra In Aisle Three: Wild Animals Roam Grocery Stores In Photo Series
|

Agan Harahap's photo series entitled "Garden Fresh" imagines if animals roam the grocery store, giving a whole new meaning to "free range" meat.

The photographer and Photoshop extraordinaire explains on his Behance page: "[The] series investigates the shifting boundaries between humans and animals in today’s environment and the complex relationship between art and nature." We have to admit, there is something endlessly entertaining about seeing our favorite beasts giving up the hunt to shop organic.

Check out "Garden Fresh," which we spotted on Peta Pixel, in the slideshow below. To be clear, these images are Photoshopped; the plot of Jumanji has not yet come true.

"By placing the animals in this made-up wilderness, the animals can easily purchase and consume their food yet its un-natural to them ... just as it is un-natural for humans to purchase from supermarkets and liv[e] in high-rise buildings, moving away from nature." "The animals are confronted by a new reality that is in conflict with their natural habits and habitats. In specific, they are invited into one of the central urban food sources for humans–the supermarket–which represents as a fond childhood memory for the artist." See more of Agan Harahap's work here. "We cannot help but see animals from a human vantage point, and therefore in some sense all the works in the present exhibition are actually about us." See more of Agan Harahap's work here. (credit:Agan Harahap)
